Vignavecchia is located in Radda in Chianti, in the heart of the historical Chianti area. Archeological excavations in the etruscan site of Poggio La Croce, prove that here the vine has been cultivated since 2000 B.C.
In 1384 Radda was the main town of Lega del Chianti which symbol was the Black Rooster.
In 1716 the Granduke of Tuscany issued a law which established that Chianti wines had to be produced in Radda, Gaiole and Castellina. In 1924, in Radda, a bunch of producers founded the Consorzio with the aim to protect and defend our brand of origin. Vignavecchia was founding member n.3. Our vineyards are located in a splendid panoramic position at 500 mt. asl. Their altitude and soil help to express the elegance of our Sangiovese at its best.
